As you step out of your rental car, parked in the driveway of one of our serene and secluded Poconos properties, the first thing you might notice is what doesn’t exist: the sound of cars, people, and the everyday noises you are used to. The sound of silence, punctuated by the peaceful notes of nature, surrounds you and brings a sense of quiet to your brain. You can see trees, grass, and flowers, but the nearest property is far enough away that you need to squint to make out their shapes, and the relief this brings will cause the tension to fall away from your shoulders as you walk inside, eager to discover what other pleasant surprises await you.

Quiet Adventures
You could spend every minute of your isolated Pennsylvania getaway enjoying the wonders of our secluded rentals, but you know that the best vacations need a little excitement to spice up the days! Your quiet adventures may include a very long hike on one of the most famous trails in American, the Appalachian Trail. Not the entire trail, of course, as it is over 2000 miles long, passes through 17 states, and can take as long as 7 months to complete! A portion of this famous trail, however, can be found just 32 miles away from your Lake Harmony cottage, and the 45-mile long section that crosses through the Poconos (230 miles in Pennsylvania total) is guaranteed to be both peaceful and scenic and you don’t have to walk the entire 45 miles. Starting in Bangor, Pennsylvania the rough and rocky terrain can be tough on those who are new to the walk. And remember, only hikers are allowed on this famous landmark, so leave your bikes behind.
Biking the Poconos
Speaking of bikes, some of our Pocono Mountain Rentals isolated escapes provide bikes for the use of the guests staying there. If the idea of a quiet afternoon spent exploring the area by bike appeals to you, you’ll be happy to discover there’s many trails that run throughout the region that accept bikers as well as hikers. The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, for example, offers over 20 miles (24, to be exact) that have been designed to make bike explorations easy and fun! Extending from White Haven to Jim Thorpe, bikers of all skill levels will enjoy the thrill of the ride and the beauty of the region made even more beautiful by the canal that runs alongside of the trail.
Fueling Your Body
When you combine all these outdoor activities with the fresh air and sunlight, it’s guaranteed you will work up quite an appetite! And because many of the local restaurants offer carryout, you can take a meal along for a picnic, or head back to the vacation homestead to enjoy in your comfiest of clothes! Hearty comfort food can be ordered from Piggy’s for breakfast and lunch right here in Lake Harmony, simply by calling 570-722-8493 or a delicious and filling dinner can be had from Nick’s Lakehouse, 570-722-2500; you might miss out on the lakefront views, but the delicious meals are definitely worth dining on at home!
