Why We Love It
Description
Sandy Feet Retreat earns its name. The back of this four-bedroom cabin in Towamensing Trails sits on the water, with a dock, an included kayak and canoe, and a four-seasons enclosed porch at the edge of the lake. Sandy Feet Retreat sleeps 12 across four bedrooms and three bathrooms, purpose-built for the smaller group that wants the full lake experience close up. Two refrigerators, two ovens, a wine fridge, a game room, and a wood-burning fireplace make the house worth staying in on the days the lake is not calling.
The Heart of the Home
The open-concept kitchen sits at the center of the main level with a natural-edge wood dining table, coffee bar, wine refrigerator, two refrigerators, and two ovens built for a group that takes meals seriously. The living area has a stone gas fireplace with plush seating and a large Roku Smart TV. The enclosed four-seasons porch off the main level has two picnic tables looking directly onto the lake, functioning as the group's dining room whenever the weather allows.
Downstairs, the game room has ping pong, foosball, a bar to stock, and a large Smart TV. Close the door and the noise stays in the basement.
Outdoor Living
The dock is the anchor of the property. The included kayak and canoe go straight from the dock onto the lake; no rental, no drive. The open deck above has the Weber gas grill and additional seating. A wood-burning fireplace indoors handles the colder evenings. The community pool is available with wristbands (see Please Note for the wristband limit).

A Perfect Day at Towamensing Trails
Sandy Feet Retreat is in Towamensing Trails, a private lake community in Carbon County. The lake is at the back door and the rest of the Poconos is a short drive out:
- On the water: The dock and included kayak and canoe give the group direct lake access without renting anything. The community's private 190-acre spring-fed lake is right behind the house.
- Community beach and pool: Lake Towamensing's sandy beach, outdoor pool, and volleyball courts are a 2-to-5-minute drive; open Memorial Day through Labor Day (8 wristbands provided).
- Easy nature for all ages: Hickory Run State Park's Hawk Falls trail is 7 minutes (5.3 miles); a flat 0.6-mile walk to a 25-foot waterfall that works for toddlers and grandparents equally well.
- Ski or snow tube: Big Boulder Mountain is 6 minutes (4.8 miles); one of the fastest snow tubing hills in the region plus ski trails for all levels. Winter only.
- Paintball: Skirmish USA is 6 minutes (4 miles); 750 acres and 50+ maps, a strong pick for teens or groups who want a competitive outdoor afternoon.
- Track day: Pocono Raceway is 8 minutes (5 miles); NASCAR events spring through fall and a holiday light drive-thru in winter.
- Indoor backup plan: H2OOooh! Indoor Waterpark is 10 minutes (7.2 miles); open year-round, the go-to when the weather turns.
- The Boulder Field: Hickory Run State Park's Boulder Field is 15 minutes (9.5 miles); a National Natural Landmark and a memorable half-day trip for kids who like to climb.
- Scenic train and history: The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway in Jim Thorpe is 20 minutes (14 miles); narrated vintage train tours through the gorge, year-round with seasonal holiday rides.
For dining, the Towamensing Trails Clubhouse is in the community with a casual menu year-round. Lake Harmony's full restaurant scene is about 10 minutes down the road. For the full list of nearby options, see the PMR Restaurants Page.
