When the summer is at its end and the beaches are bustling with tourists trying to have as much fun as they can before the weather turns, you may want to enjoy a different beach. Away from the crowded beach, Wally Lake Fest brings you a unique event. It’s three days full of food, sports, tours, music, shopping, and fun activities for everyone. It takes place at the end of August at Lake Wallenpaupack located at 2512 Route 6, Suite 1, Hawley, PA 18428. Admission is free for all, even though some activities might have fees. It’s one of the best things to do in the Poconos in the Summer!
Getting Ready
Before you head out to Wally Lake Fest, you need to be prepared for the day ahead. Check out the website for the activities included in the brochure, that way you’ll know which events you want to take part in beforehand. Make sure you have everything you need for the day with you. This includes sunscreen, sneakers, beach clothes, and anything else you need to have with you. Also, some activities might require certain gear, so packing all the stuff you need will ensure a successful day on the lake.
Parking and Transport
If you’re driving, then you might have a problem with parking. A better way is to park for free at Lake Wallenpaupack Visitors Center, or Wallenpaupack Area High School, or Lake Wallenpaupack Environmental Center. Now you can take free shuttles to anywhere you’d like to go. The red shuttle stops at Gresham’s Landing, while the blue shuttle goes to Hawley Silk Mill and Downtown Hawley. Both of them pass through the three parking areas where you have just parked your car. This will save you money and hassle driving your car and looking for a parking place near the lake.
What to Do at the Festival
There are three locations that have the best hotspots at Wally Lake Fest. Downtown Hawley has many restaurants and cafes as well as local attractions. Recommended places there include Hawley Silk Mill, Mill Market Bakery, Ritz Company Playhouse, and Glass – wine.bar.kitchen. North End has Wallenpaupack Scenic Boat Tours, Lake Wallenpaupack Visitors Center, and Palmyra Township Public Beach on Lake Wallenpaupack. The Lake Region has Silver Birches Resort, Lighthouse Harbor Marina and The Boat House Restaurant among other attractions.
For three days, Lake Wallenpaupack holds a lot of fun for tourists trying to enjoy the last days of the summer.
