Host a Father’s Day getaway to the Pocono Mountains and Lake Harmony. There are a number of indoor and outdoor activities Dad will want to be sure to add to your itinerary to make it his favorite and most memorable Lake Harmony vacation.
Breweries, Distilleries & Wineries
Many establishments create handcrafted beers, spirits, and wines right on the premises with fresh and, when possible, locally sourced ingredients. Many of them have tasting rooms staffed with experts who will help you and Dad with proper food pairings to maximize the taste and experience of each beverage.
This area offers access to ride-share services year-round allowing you to blaze a trail to some of the Poconos Mountains region’s finest breweries, distilleries, and wineries to taste their wares.

Mount Airy Casino
Let Dad and friends over 21 hit the jackpot every day of a Father’s Day trip to Lake Harmony and the surrounding area. The casino gaming floor features over 1,800 of the latest slot machines as well as the classics dad knows like Blazin’ 7’s or Wheel of Fortune. Put on your poker face or take a spin at roulette or any of the over 70 table games available.
When Dad is done gaming, take in a live performance from acts like Blues Traveler, or sample some of the casino’s delicious cuisine from one of the on-site restaurants. In case you were wondering, smoking is currently not allowed inside the venue, and alcoholic beverages are only available with the purchase of a full meal at one of the sit-down restaurants.
Hiking & Mountain Biking
If Dad is an outdoorsman, he’ll have a great time in Lake Harmony. He can lace up his hiking shoes or rent a mountain bike and head out on a summertime mountain adventure. There is an abundance of beautiful mountain hiking and biking trails in the area to explore.
Wooded forests hold hiking trails for all skill levels, many of which lead to breathtaking waterfalls, cozy creeks and streams, and clearings where you can stop and have a picnic. There is something to explore with young children as well as teens and older children. Anyone not accustomed to thinner mountain air should schedule your outings a full day or more after arriving to get used to breathing the thinner air.

Sightseeing
Take Dad on a tour of the area! There are a number of historic buildings and sights to see. Visit Asa Packer Mansion, a Victorian mansion complete with original furnishings that showcases the life and legacy of philanthropist, railroad magnate, and Lehigh University founder Asa Packer. Grey Towers National Historic Site is the former residence of Gifford Pinchot, the first chief of the U.S. Forest Service. Make a stop at the Old Jail Museum – a jail built in 1871 and in use until 1995. There are a variety of other landmarks and historic places you’ll want to explore this Father’s Day, too.
Penn’s Peak
If Dad is looking for fun and live entertainment this Father’s Day, check out the current or upcoming lineup at Penn’s Peak. Check out national acts like Travis Tritt, Jefferson Starship, Gary Allan, and a myriad of tribute groups.
Seating is limited, with room for just 1,800 people. You and Dad will enjoy venue features like a spacious dance floor, a concert bar and concessions area, and a full-service restaurant and bar. Check the calendar on their website to make sure your dad’s favorite act is performing this Father’s Day.
Camelbeach Mountain Water Park
It’s perfect and refreshing for families of all ages and sizes. Part of the Camelback Resort, the water park is open to the public, too. The park offers over 35 slides, the Camelbeach FlowRider where you can boogie board and surf, a children’s area for the little ones, and more. Everyone can relax in a tube (single or double) and float along the Blue Nile Adventure River (lazy river), which boasts 1,000 feet of water-filled track punctuated by waterfalls, geysers, and bubbling water. Some slides and attractions will have height requirements. The water park opens June 14, 2024 – just in time for Father’s Day!
Plan a Father’s Day Retreat to Lake Harmony
Once you’ve decided to make Lake Harmony and the surrounding area your Father’s Day getaway destination this year, make sure your next step is booking a private vacation rental with Pocono Mountain Rentals. After a day full of Father’s Day fun, relax in a private rental with all the comforts of your own home. Spread out in an open living area and spend time with loved ones or catch up on the latest episode of dad’s favorite TV show.
Choose from a four-bedroom home all the way up to a sprawling nine-bedroom home, so Dad can spend time with all his loved ones this Father’s Day. Enjoy the privacy of your own room and private outdoor spaces the whole group can enjoy like patios and balconies.
The Pocono Mountains are a great destination any time of year, but spring is particularly beautiful. Check out how to enjoy spending your Spring Break in Lake Harmony below!
Rent a Boat
One of the most exciting things to do during your Spring Break in Lake Harmony Is to rent a boat. Whether you are a seasoned professional at yachting, kayaking, or canoeing, or you are fresh off the plane and have never been in a boat before, we can take care of the hard work for you. Just contact one of the professional outdoor companies in the area and book a private boat with your very own captain. Both Lake Harmony Water Sports and Yeti Water Sports have been providing fun charters and excellent service to the Lake Harmony area.
You can choose a fishing boat to try and see if you can catch some local trout or salmon on your private charter. Or you can rent your own canoes and kayaks to meander along the flowing rivers, bring a packed lunch, and take photos of your excursion. The choice is yours when it comes to spending time on the water, but renting a boat and going out on Lake Harmony is going to be one of the highlights of your trip.

Check Out the Local Wineries
There is nothing better on a sunny spring day than to head to the local wineries and breweries dotted around Lake Harmony and the surrounding countryside. First, we love going to Blue Ridge Estate Vineyard and Winery. They offer small wine samplers that are ideal for sampling the local grapes and varieties, costing just $11 for five wines of your choice. Even if you just want five pinot noir options, they can do that for you!
We love the ambiance, comfort, and sprawling estate of Blue Ridge. You Can sit outside, feel the sunshine on your face, and listen to the sounds of nature as you sip a glass of wine. Pair any one of the wine samplers with some of their tasty and healthy food for a complete afternoon. You can also book a table to have dinner in the underground room.
Dinner in the underground room is a luxurious and fine dining experience that offers gourmet catering and a five-course dinner that will leave you wanting more. For just $90, you can have five courses of exquisite food, like roast beef and bacon jam crostini, watercress soup, lentil feta salad with vinaigrette, crab stuffed Maine lobster tail with red quinoa, and poached pears with sponge cake.
Not to mention, there are weekly and monthly events at the cellar and Blue State winery that will bring people in from all over the state. Head here on March 9th to enjoy the Underground Experience, featuring a tour of the brilliant crystal ballrooms, 90-minute tasting menu, and wine pairing with pumpkin seeds, chocolate, stories, and music.
If you want to stay and listen to some more music, come back later on a Saturday afternoon or evening to listen to local musicians play tunes, sing along, and dance the day away.
Other wineries that are fun to visit during your stay in Lake Harmony include taking an all-day tour from Pocono Wine Tours, Antler Ridge Winery, Mountain View Vineyard and Brewery, and Tolino Vineyards and Winery. We love going to the Mountain View Brewery and Distillery to taste some of the best brews, liquors, and spirits in the entire state.
Go on a St. Patrick’s Day Crawl
If you come to Lake Harmony during the spring months, you will be lucky to be here for a few holidays! St. Patrick’s Day is one of the top events that bring people in from all over the Northeast, featuring exciting Irish music, dancing, great pub vibes, and drink deals. Attend the Pub Pioneers Leaping Leprechaun Pub Crawl in March at the Sarah Street Grill and other vendors to grab pints for cheap and meet new friends.
Adult Easter Egg Hunt
Who said Easter egg hunts were just for kids? We think that getting in touch with your inner child and doing an Adult Easter egg hunt can help you feel like a child again, have fun with your friends, and make you laugh. What more could you ask for during vacation? Attend the hunt and have a few mimosas or pints of beer in the process, to enjoy an adult version of the typical Easter tradition.

There are tons of culinary spots for you to check out during your trip to the mountains in Pennsylvania. Just because you are taking a holiday with your friends, family, or partner doesn’t mean you need to spend tons of money on food. We think that you can get a great idea of the taste of the area by going to local food trucks and chilled-out cafes and sitting outside and enjoying nature.
Fortunately for you, there are ample food trucks in Lake Harmony and the surrounding areas. We love sitting outside with a hearty lunch, filling dinner, a tasty drink, or a cup of coffee and watching the sun go down over the bright blue water of the nearby lakes. Check out these places that are must-visits during your vacation in the New Year.
Donerds Donuts
Donerds Donuts in Jim Thorpe is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to get their sweet cravings fixed and refill their blood sugar before heading back out on the slopes, wandering around a nearby mountain, going shopping, or spending quality time with their loved ones. This popular food truck and store has a fixed menu for you to choose from during your visit, including glazed donuts as a traditional choice and more unique flavors.
One of our favorites is the Boston Cream with a creamy filling and chocolate frosting. Or the S’mores donut is a fantastic choice for kids who want a sweet treat and love chocolate. The Peanut Butter Cup is truly just like Reese’s in donut form, while the Cookies and Cream are great for those who can’t decide if they want vanilla or chocolate on their donut. Lastly, the NYC Style Cheesecake is truly to die for — we will see you here!
Twisted Burgerz n Wrapz
If you’re in the mood for fast, filling, greasy, and tasty takeaway food, Twisted is the place to be. After all, you are on vacation, so you don’t need to be healthy all of the time. This food truck in Gouldsboro, PA is well known for its traditional burgers, Jerk Wrap, Boom Boom Chicken, and tender baskets.
We highly recommend getting the seafood platter, with whiting and shrimp, to satisfy any cravings you may have for local and fresh seafood right from the East Coast. Or try the jerk chicken wrap for a picky alternative, chopped wrap for a cheesy lunch time sandwich, or tenders and fries for kids who are picky eaters. The extensive menu here is ideal for those who come in big groups or want to share meals.
If you want to split a few things from the menu with someone in your group, the loaded fries with cheese sauce, diced pickles, tomato, onion, ketchup, and mayo is a savory choice for a filling lunch. Or try one of the baskets, like the chicken tender and fries with boom boom sauce, other whiting and fries with hot and tartar sauce. The classic cheeseburger or bacon and beef burger is another top choice for a handheld lunch.
Atomic Hog BBQ
Atomic Hog is a popular and mouth-watering barbecue spot in Effort, PA that is well known for its delicious barbecue sauce, melt-in-your-mouth meat platters, southwestern flavors, and strong spices. This quality food truck can even cater to a private event, so you can have a birthday party or a family reunion during your time in Pennsylvania.
The Greek Shack
Gyros, lamb kofta, and tzatziki sauce—it’s all Greek to me. Greek food is unbelievably tantalizing, mouthwatering, and healthy, so you can feel good about visiting The Greek Shack every single day during your holiday. This is a family-owned mobile food truck that specializes in authentic Mediterranean food you won’t find in your typical restaurant or takeaway joint.
Not sure what to order? We have visited enough times to find the best items on the menu for any time of the day and type of picky eater. The most popular items are the Greek specials, including the Greek gyro with a 12-hour marinade that is sure to knock your socks off. This chicken or pork sandwich features Souvlaki sauce, toasted pita bread, tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, red onion, and parsley.
Suppose you want another type of traditional Greek dish that is less commonly found in the United States. In that case, the Loukaniko Greek sausage will tick all of the boxes. Loukaniko is a grilled specialty that features Greek sausage, pork, lamb, fennel seed, orange peel, warm pita, fresh vegetables, and parsley. You can even add feta or change it to vegan tzatziki with a coconut base.
Other options on the mobile menu include grilled meats, like chicken souvlaki on a stick, grilled and tenderized to perfection with warm toast on the side. We recommend ordering one of the grilled meats with a side of zucchini balls, featuring scallions, dill, mint, vegan soy free meat, and flax seed. Make sure you get one of the other sides to split with the table, like the Greek fries, fresh cut fries with sea salt, or spanakopita pastry.
And to finish off the delicious meal, you can order one of the super sweet desserts. The Rizogalo Greek rice is a combo of milk, eggs, vanilla, and custard to add a creamy end to your Greek feast. Or the Greek Yogurt is a healthy option for those who are on a health kick. However, we would love to share the Baklava with your partner since it is the premier pastry and specialty dessert item here. You can’t pass this up!
