Pet Friendly Pocono Mountain Things To Do

If the thought of leaving your dog behind on your next family vacation is heartbreaking, don’t worry, there are plenty of pet-friendly activities near Lake Harmony. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the beaches at Lake Harmony, but you can still bring them on some of your fun adventures. Here are some of the best dog-friendly Pocono Mountain things to do.

Take a Ride on a Historic Train

The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway is one of our favorite Pocono Mountain things to do and offers trips on vintage coaches pulled by a diesel-powered engine. The narrated trail trip follows the Lehigh River, taking you along high-rise cliffs and through gorgeous mountain scenery into the Lehigh Gorge State Park. The 16-mile round trip train ride lasts about an hour, and pets are allowed on board for free. The employees are very welcoming of dogs and your pup will enjoy sticking its head out the window for a fresh breeze.

Kayak Adventure is One of the Best Pocono Mountain Things To Do

Adventure Sports leads canoe, kayak, and rafting tours through the Delaware Water Gap National Park. They offer a variety of trips that can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days and you are allowed to bring your pet along. Depending on the trip you choose, your guides will take you to areas where you can get out to swim and have a snack.

Go on a Dog Sled Tour

Arctic Paws Dog Sled Tours is the premier dog sled tour company in the Poconos Mountains and one of the top Poconos outdoor activities. Your guides will help you lead your own team of 6 – 10 dogs down snow-covered trails. This isn’t just a ride along, so participants must be in physical shape and able to stand up on a sled. If you have a Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Alaskan Husky, or Samoyed, you can hook your dog up to the sled. Your dog will start in the wheel position, where all new sled dogs start and run with a team of 5 – 10 other dogs to pull your sled. Sled tours are given on Saturdays and Sundays during the winter when there is snow on the ground and are cash only.
