Journey to the Poconos in the Spring

Springtime in the Poconos can be described with just one word, and that word is promise. Everywhere you turn you will discover the promise of new growth, beautiful weather, and in many cases, better times. How can you feel sad when you see the bright green of a flower pushing its way through the dark soil? How can you not feel hopeful when the sun stays up a little later each day before disappearing into the horizon in a blaze of color? And how can you feel less than happy when you begin and each day in the comforts of one of our Pocono Mountain Rentals spring sanctuaries? This guide to Poconos in the spring will lead you along all the right paths!

Pocono Gardens in Cresco

Stopping to smell the roses is not just a metaphor for slowing down, it can be considered an important activity during your Poconos spring vacation! Pocono Gardens is a quietly beautiful place offering simple paths that lead past beautiful flowers and alongside a babbling creek. At Easter, the Easter Bunny himself has been known to show up, offering youngsters a seasonal thrill they will never forget—something parents will appreciate as well!

Jack Frost National Golf Club, Route 940 & Jack Frost Mountain Road in Blakeslee

After the winter is over, we can’t wait for opening day at Jack Frost National Golf Club! Designed by Terry LaGree in 2006, this newer course offers a challenge to low handicap golfers while not intimidating the novice player. Start your spring day on the greens out with a visit to their practice facility, then spend the rest of the time enjoying the views and the weather, both of which can make an average day seem extra special!

Picnic with the Family

Warmer weather and sunny days make us all want to stay outside as much as possible and the perfect way to celebrate your spring journey to the Poconos is with a picnic in the park! Pennsylvanians love their parks giving visitors a plethora of choices; Hickory Run State Park in White Haven, Austin T. Blakeslee Natural Area in Blakeslee, and Mauch Chunk Lake Park in Jim Thorpe are just a few places that offer beautiful spaces for a spring picnic in the park!

Horseback Riding

If you weren’t raised on a farm, chances are you did not spend many spring days galloping through the woods, but the beautiful landscape of the Poconos lends itself towards making this activity one of our favorites! And because it is so popular, there are many stables in the area that offer the opportunity! Starting with Mountain Creek Riding Stables in Cresco, this sweet business offers group rides, individual tours, even pony rides for the younger members of your traveling party! Bushkill Riding Stables in East Stroudsburg offers beginner trail rides that are shorter than their normal trail rides for those who want the experience but aren’t quite sure they will be able to hold out for a longer time period; you will feel muscles you did not know you had after your first ride, but we can promise you will love it!

White Water Rafting

A popular summer activity, white water rafting is also fun to participate in during the spring; just know that you will get wet and it will be cold—but that is just part of the fun! Pocono Whitewater in Jim Thorpe offers trips for all skill levels, including family fun trips that will make your children feel like they are doing something super adventurous, even as they are participating in a safe and fun water activity. The season begins in April and reservations are required; this exciting sport is far too much fun to miss, so make your reservations early.

Romance Is in the Air

You know the saying about spring and a young man’s thoughts, but just because you may no longer be as young as you were once were, the love is only growing stronger, and a romantic dinner out is one of the best ways to celebrate your strengths as a couple! Basso, located at 6525 PA-191 in Cresco, offers bistro dishes served on white clothed tables in a chalet style building that makes you feel at home. Explore their menu filled with your favorite classic Italian dishes as you sip on a selection of wines offered on their extensive wine menu. Quiet atmosphere, excellent service and a dessert menu finish off the recipe for a perfect romantic evening and do yourselves a favor. Order two servings of the cannolis if you want to keep the peace during your night of love and romance! Life in the Poconos just doesn’t get any better than this!
